[Kerensky] Transcript Annotations Cleaner V1.6.9.1 (07-05-2011)

Slendid program - and gets better all the time!

(Damn! Last night I batch-cleaned over 160 files with the old version - if I'd waited until today, I would have cut the work and hassle by half.)

s.

Thank you spidy :)

But I'm a little confuse, why you would have cut the work and hassle by half using today's version?

If it's because the overwrite thing, it's there since the v1.6.5 (03-10-2010)

* Advanced Options -> Modified General tab,

Now you can choose the extension added to the output Filename (".TAC" by default)
or just overwrite the input file .

Transcript Annotations Cleaner
v1.6.6 for Linux [MONO]

Installation notes:

* The MONO virtual machine MUST be installed (already installed in Ubuntu)

Common Errors:

1) If after executing TAC appears this message:

"Archive: <TAC_PATH>
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive."

-- SOLUTIONS -->
  1. Open a new terminal and type: mono <TAC PATH>
    Example: "mono /home/kerensky/Desktop/TAC.exe"
  2. Ubuntu: Right Click -> Properties -> Open With -> Use a custom command -> type "mono"
  3. Ubuntu: In the "TAC-BashFile" that comes with the exe
    -> Right Click -> Properties -> Permissions -> Check: "Allow executing file as a program"
  4. Install binfmt-support (apt-get install binfmt-support) to just double-click in the exe file.

2) WARNING **: The following assembly referenced from <TAC_PATH> could not be loaded:
Assembly: System.Windows.Forms (assemblyref_index=0)
Version: 2.0.0.0

-- SOLUTION --> Install the Winforms for Linux: "sudo apt-get install mono-winforms*"
(Select the 2.0 version if asked)

3) If the Drag&Drop doesn't work, make sure it appears the "chain" icon next to the "hand".
(make sure you drag the input file into the center of the "INPUT" textbox)

4) If the path for the output file it's wrong because it has a "\" character

-- SOLUTION --> type in terminal: "export MONO_IOMAP=all"

Thanks to MystEre for the Beta-testing in Ubuntu :)

New version 1.6.7.3: v17-11-2010

Download (RAR) || Direct Install (Internet Explorer)

New Features:

* Added a Donate button (Paypal)

donate-paypal-chico.jpg

* The remove Names now works properly if the line start with "- "

Example:

- Woman: Let's get x-ray in here.
- Man: You better be precise.

is now left as:

- Let's get x-ray in here.
- You better be precise.

Thanks to MystEre for the report.

* New cut points for Smart Join/Split: "¿¡" and "¡¿"

EDIT: (new version 1.6.7.3)
Fixed some bugs:
  • A out of range exception caused by the erase "- NAME:"
  • In some cases the result window was not shown, I hope it's fixed now.
  • The app entered in batch mode after drag&drop new files.
  • If the output charset is ANSI, in some cases the musical notes weren't converted to "*".
  • Fixed a bug where the Smart Join/Split lines ignored
    if the user disabled the basic option: "Split line too if...".

As always, feel free to post bugs/suggestions/comments/whatever in this thread
or in the new project page.

Hi Kerensky!
TAC is indeed a great program. I use it from time to time to quickly fix up things that would take forever to do with Subtitle Workshop. However, I just hate the way TAC confiscates the icons for all .srt files. You see, Subtitle Workshop is set to open my .srt-files, and I want its icon on these files. But ones TAC is executed I get that silly head of a dead chicken, and I find no way to set it back again. Please, in the next versions, can you be so kind to let be of forcing an icon change on any subtitle files, - or at least let us have a chance to easily reset them. (Today I find that removing your program again with Revo Uninstaller is the only effective way to do it.)

Kind regards,
Knegg

Hi knegg, the ClickOnce installer don't really leave much choice because it's designed to be a "one click installer", but,
as with any other program, you can set and modify the file associations in one sec.

Just right click in some *.srt file, go to "Open with..." (you may need to hold shift key too)
and then, after selecting the app from the list and checking "always open with this application",
you will have the srt associated with the application of you choice.

I hope this helps.

Regards.

EDIT: Just to be clear, the srt file association it's done by the installer, so once you have TAC
installed, it will not try to change the srt file association never again.

PS: The icon it's actually a vulture :P

Thank you for prompt response.
I try and try with the "Open with..." function, that I know very well. (WinXP) However, the "Always open with" field is greyed out, and even if I see the good old icon shown next to it, and the .srt files actually opens with SW, that chick... eh.. vulture heat will still stick to the .srt files. No way to get rid of it. Maybe there is something wrong with my system. I will check into it.

In that case, open your PC in SAFE MODE (you know, F8... :) ), log in as administrator and try again "Open with..."

Good luck

Thanks for hint, but solution actually a bit less drastic. Went to .srt file properties, and in 'Open with..' browsed to SWS as default program, - and made a reboot. Voilá, and all those chickens were gone. A bit surprising, because this is not the common method for other programs than TAC. BTW, also peeked into registry, removed the OneClick option and cut off the call for automatic check and/or re-installation of eventual new version from his homepage. Me prefer to download the .RAR files and scrutinize new programs thoroughly before they are allowed to my system partition (C:). However, all credit too Kerensky for a nice program, though.
Ciao,
knegg

New version 1.6.8.1: v26-12-2010

Download (RAR) || Direct Install (Internet Explorer)

Improvements / Bug Fixes:

* The "donate" button linked "Kerensky@gmail" instead of "Kerensky25@gmail"
So, if any of you actually did donate, sorry for the inconvenience :( (and I hope you do it again ;))
[Thx to spyderspyder for reporting this error]

* The removal of the 1st sentence if ends in ":" (with or without spaces in the Name)
[Requested by elderman]

Example:
Dr. Tom:
Hello there!

Is now left as: (if the "Erase Names:" option it's checked)
Hello there!

* The add "..." option now adds "..." in the beggining of a sentence if
it's a dialogue and one of the sentences starts in lowercase
and the other one in uppercase
[Requested by Sleegon]

Example:
- meaning to tell you this.
- Shut up!

Is now left as: (with Add "..." at the end of unfinished lines activated')
- ...meaning to tell you this.
- Shut up!

* Fixed some bugs:

  • A out of range exception caused by the erase "- NAME:"
  • In some cases the result window was not shown, I hope it's fixed now.
  • The app entered in batch mode after drag&drop new files.
  • If the output charset is ANSI, in some cases the musical notes weren't converted to " * ".

New version 1.6.9.1: v07-05-2011

Download (RAR) || Direct Install (Internet Explorer)

New Features:

* TAC is now able to read XML subtitles using the EEG708Captions format.
[Requested by Mlmlte]

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<EEG708Captions>

   <Caption timecode="00:00:25:01">

      <Text>Subtitle Text.</Text>

   </Caption>

   <Caption timecode="00:44:45:24"/>

</EEG708Captions>

Improvements / Bug Fixes:

* Fixed erasing names as annotation text when there was a srt tag before, like in:
<i>[Pope]: blablababla...</i>
Thx to Richard Pedersen for the report.

* Fixed Status report generation when subtitle generation failed.

* Fixed deleting a number before ":" in the case there was a "- " and a srt tag before that.
(which by some unknown reason broke in the last version xD)

If the app throws an exception while trying to update itself...
you have to manually download and install the new version.

The links in the latest post are dead, and the links in the first post only provide the 1.6.8.1 version.
I want 1.6.9.1 because of the bugfix with the srt tags before annotation text. Please update! Thank you!
