Spiral (Engrenages) Season 6 English Subtitles

Hello,

I'm looking for English subtitles for season 6 of the French detective series Engrenages showing in the UK as Spiral. Only Season 1-5 are on here.

I have already watched episodes 1-10 on the BBC, so I would especially appreciate English subtitles for the last two episodes 11 and 12 (it's too exciting and I don't want to wait!).  I did find one set of subtitles online, but the quality was unwatchable.

Thanks.

Hello,

you're not going to find them because the 6th season is relatively new, it was broadcast only 4 months ago in France. BBC Four is showing the series with a minimal delay. How do you expect to find English subtitles for such a recent thing when the only DVD that exists is for the French market?

I understand that you don't want to wait but it airs in a week, you won't wait for very long.

Thank you for your reply. I have the French version of the show and given that I found subtitles that were poor quality, I don't think it is unreasonable to ask if a better quality is available. Plus you must surely be aware that many of the subtitles provided by volunteers are not used by people who have paid for the copy of the programme in question? You tell me that I'm not going to find subtitles because the programme is too recent. How do you explain subtitles uploaded for shows currently being shown? This is a genuine question and asked because your reply strongly implies my request is unreasonable.

Thanks again.

Subtitles for current programmes (such as hearing impaired subtitles which are the same language as the broadcast) are totally different from subtitles for a programme in a foreign language.

To find English subtitles for a programme in a foreign language, you either need a DVD/BR copy with subtitles that you can extract (meaning that we have to wait for the DVD to be released), or a broadcast from a channel/streaming service with subtitles that are not hardcoded (because hardcoded subtitles are impossible to extract from the video). The other solution is when people translate, this needs to be done by a native speaker of the target language (i.e. here a native English speaker because a native French speaker, even with years of translation experience, won't translate as good as a native).

You don't need to explain to me how this works, I am perfectly aware. But my answer is that if you want good quality subtitles for this, you need to wait for the BBC4 broadcast.

There are French HI subs but the rules for French subs are totally different than English/American ones.
