Subtitle Renamer (Tool to easily rename subtitles to match episodes)

Hey,

everybody knows this I guess:
You have a new series, 3 seasons, 20 episodes each.
You download the subtitles from addic7ed.
Now you have to rename 60 subtitles to match the episode titles because otherwise your player won't automatically use the subtitle file with the video.

Because I've had a bit of free time I've built a small tool (in golang) to automate this process.

I'm sure the tool isn't completely finished, it might have a few bugs, but it's working for me at the moment and saved me a bit of time with the file renaming.

If you want to try out the tool you can download subtitlerenamer.exe and play around with it.

At the moment it only works with video files that have the season/episode syntax like "S01E01" and the subtitle files can have the syntax "01x01" or "S01E01".
It's not limited to Season 1 or Episode 1, just the syntax.

You can just place the executable in a folder with the video and subtitle files and just double click the executable to run it. It renames the files automatically.

If you have files like this:

• This.Is.A.New.Series.S01E01.The.Pilot.AC3.WEB.XViD-CREW.mkv
• This Is A New Series - S01E01 - The Pilot.CREW.English.C.srt

This Is A New Series - S01E01 - The Pilot.CREW.English.C.srt
will be renamed to
This.Is.A.New.Series.S01E01.The.Pilot.AC3.WEB.XViD-CREW.srt

 

If you have files like this:

• This.Is.A.New.Series.S01E01.The.Pilot.AC3.WEB.XViD-CREW.mkv
• This Is A New Series - 01x01 - The Pilot.CREW.English.C.srt

This Is A New Series - 01x01 - The Pilot.CREW.English.C.srt
will be renamed to
This.Is.A.New.Series.S01E01.The.Pilot.AC3.WEB.XViD-CREW.srt
