Sync - A Quick Fix

Good morning...

This is a quick fix for viewing - it is not a substitute for properly sinc'ing a subtitle file for distribution.

Often, the timings of an old subtitle file are generally good, but maybe just a little bit off, varying throughou the file - some are a little late, some a little early, some a bit lacking in duration...

One can spend a hour or so working through it, line by line, or try this...

In Subtitle Workshop:
- Go to: Edit... Timings... Time expander/reducer...
- Check: Expand duration... All subtitles... Prevent overlapping...
- Click Apply.

This increases the duration of all the subtitle lines, in both directions.

So all subtitle lines are made to be a slightly earlier, and last a bit longer, thus masking most, if not all, late subtitles, and extending the time that they are on screen.

Lines that were already early will be even earlier, of course, and long durations longer, but, for me, early is better than late, and long durations are better than short ones.

This is something I use a lot as a quick fix, especially when checking a complete set of episodes of a season.

Cheers,
s.
