Addic7ed hacked???

Bonjour,

I'm getting redirected to all sorts of nutty sites. When I tried to stop all popups from addic7ed.com, I just got a blank screen. This is a serious problem. One site I was directed to imitated the look of Microsoft and indicated that I had serious problems with my computer.

Let us know what's going on.

It redirected me again this morning. I am able to download the subs, but I have to X out the offending sites and click the sub again

OK, devs have been notified again.

Edit : devs answer : there should be just 2 popups / 24 hours and only for users that are not logged in. We'll check if it's misbehaving. Thanks.

You mean to say that this ridiculousness is intentional?

BTW, I am getting a lot more than 2 / 24h when not logged in; more like 1 / page load, without limit.

FAQ  http://www.sub-talk.net/topic/2784-frequently-asked-questions/

  says :

How much does it cost?
Addic7ed.com is a free service and will stay that way... however donations are always welcomed and rewarded with VIP status (read more about VIP below).

PS: We currently don't have a proper donation system on the site, however for more information on how to donate, you can contact us via PM, contact form or email at this address: chamallow@addic7ed.com

and without a proper donation system, 2 popups isn't too much.

and log in isn't forbidden...

Cheers :)

I tried to log in yesterday and was sent to "funshopfun.com" or some such site.

Had to reset my browser profile to get rid of it.

Don't think I'll be going to Addic7ed.com any time soon.

Return of the spamming adds....

Worse than just that. After I got them Addic7ed, all other open pages and all sites I visit have the same adds, even with AdBlock activated.

Only way is restart the PC and not open Addic7ed.

It's bad...

Also receiving some "bad input" randomly.

For future reference, if this sort of thing happens again, you might want to try Firefox with NoScript along with Adblock Plus.

NoScript can be a pain for people to use all the time, as you have to allow site content for each site or page. But in these situations, it lets you to individually forbid or allow scripts from third-party sites on pages. (They don't make it for Chrome, and I've read that NotScript for Chrome doesn't really stop such scripts from loading). Once a page reloads nicely, there's a "make page permissions permanent" switch.
