spyderspyder
Hi, all. I've been trying to extract Closed Captions from a DVD of a TV series, to get .srt subs - I did it! I found a thing called CCExtractor on Sourceforge: http://ccextractor.sourceforge.net/ Download it here (Windows installer): http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/ccextractor/ccextractor/0.55/CCExtractorSetup.0.55.msi?use_mirror=dfn To get it to work: - I ripped the DVD to the PC, then, - using DVDShrink, in Reauthor mode, I extracted a single episode 40 seconds) then, - ran the extracted .vob files* through CCExtractor (20 seconds) and... Bingo! One perfect .srt of the embedded CC in less than a couple of minutes. *(NB: all VOBs: there might be 1 or more .vob files for each episode, and all must be loaded into CCE) It will probably work for tv rips, but I don't know how, yet... In the information on CCExtractor, it says that if you run it without parameters (whatever that means) you get a help file. I haven't managed that, yet - maybe someone cleverer might work it out... s. Important links: Forum Help.Never look before you leap, it'll spoil the surprise. Dawg
Hi, all. I found a thing called CCExtractor on Sourceforge: http://ccextractor.sourceforge.net/ Thanks I'll give it a look over.In the information on CCExtractor, it says that if you run it without parameters (whatever that means) s. Run it by it'self without any additional information. IF you have to run it with certain options running it w/o those options is _supposed_ to bring up the help file. spyderspyder
But there are zillions of options pre-selected - you can't have none selected - and the "Start" button is greyed out, with no input file loaded (if "running it" means "Start"). But it's still a smashing bit of software, and playing around with it will doubtless reveal its hidden strengths - many thanks to the author. s. Dawg
But there are zillions of options pre-selected When you install CCextractor it installs 2 versions at the same time. ccextractorGUI.exe (Default program) & ccextractorwin.exe (command line version.) So if you open a dos box in the install dir and run ccextractorwin.exe, you'll get a LONG page of options that's what was meant by running the program w/o par'm's. But it's still a smashing bit of software, and playing around with it will doubtless reveal its hidden strengths - many thanks to the author. s. And thanks to you for finding this little jewel. spyderspyder
OK - That makes sense; thank you. As to how I found it (and The Doc.) the answer is always the same : Google... And if that fails - Google. (But don't forget - if you Google: "Google", you'll break the internet!) s. Important links: Forum Help.Never look before you leap, it'll spoil the surprise.
