webtraweller
If you accidentally download avi with hardcoded sub in foreign language you can use Virtualdub for vbr to make it disappear. Simply load the file and check the box where it says Nandub compatible mode. Then click Video > filters>add filter select "Fill" filter and configure it according to the hight of the hardcoded subs (move the horizental axis from top and bottom) Use the preview to be as accurate as possible. Next choose the codec ( I use xvid) choose same bitrate as orginal file and select full processing for video but do not change the audio encoding (unless you want to) Finally save as avi and wait for it to reencode. Should take around 30 minutes for 40 min episode. Now you can use your own preferred subtitle without the annoying hardcoded sub . Happy watching :) Edited December 10, 2012 by DrJackson I take myself permision to "tweak" :) a little your post. I hope you don't mind :)
MrJoel
Can you explain where the "Nandub" checkbox is ... ( I looked for it in VirtualDub v.1.5 and the new v.1.9 .. - It is not a main menu item - A search in the 'Help' file shows nothing, and - It seems that there isn't some separate program called "Virtualdub for vbr" altho there is a 'fork' program for VirtualDub called NanDub .. is that what's needed?) A path to it would be helpful. Thanx, MrJoel
webtraweller
Hi MrJoel, You must use Virtualdubmod v1.4.11 for vbr. Virtualdub doesn't support variable bitrate (vbr) in audio. When I remember my user/pass for my dropbox account I can post screens. Meanwhile I hope you figure this out cheers
