DreamCatcher
Hi guys, how's it going? Hope everything stayed the same from the last time I was here. So... I have a question for the English brainiacs out there... If you watched Limitless (which is, BTW, a great action movie), you probably remember that it's filed with terms and phrases that are kinda hard to catch for those of us who wasn't born in the US. Cooper is talking with De Niro in the end of the film about how he could've foreseen an accident when he was on the pill, by saying:Something's pumping half-mass in there. He's touching De Niro's chest while saying that. Could anyone explain to me what is exactly the meaning of half-mass? Is mass a shortcut of massive? What exactly he meant by that? Thanks in advance, DC.
alex28
Got the movie just to look into this. Half mast and half mass are the same thing.. as far as i know. Half mast means a flag that's halfway to a pole (example). In that context i think it means that something is not working "like it should"... not working at "full capacity". It's just a hunch, but maybe right :-) (English is not my native language, so i might be missing some slang here) Changing the world. One subtitle at a time. Edyth21
The concept of Limitless is fantastic - what would happen if you couldtake a pill (NZT) that would allow you to use 100% of your brain (instead ofthe standard 20%) and function on a level higher than you have ever functionedbefore? The possibilities for such a movie idea are well, limitless - punintended - but unfortunately, despite some great acting, especially by BradleyCooper, who plays Eddie Morra - the lead whose life the movie followsthroughout it's duration, the film just could not overcome some major plotholes, sloppy writing and nonsensical moments.
