Recommend a TV show

There are a lot of people in search of something new to watch.
Either they never watched TV shows and don`t know what do start with, or either they just finished something and want to start a new one.

What show would you recommend and why? Additional information and IMDb link ( or youtube trailer link ) are welcomed.

I would definetly recommend Crash. If you like action, drama and comedy, all in one, then you should start watching it. I made a Crash review here (page went bye bye). There is also the Crash trailer so you should watch it.

Rome was awesome... and funny too!
HBO shows are great ( except Bored to Death.. that actually is boring to death ). You can watch Carnivale and Six Feet Under ( both are made by HBO and are masterpieces )

Another funny show is the ABC's The Knights of Prosperity (canceled :()

I agree with Mczolly. Knights of Prosperity was good unlike all those cliched shows; I've no idea why it was cancelled.

My recommendation would be 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter. It was a good show until the lead guy died and then it turned downhill.

Off: It was in the same time as some popular reality show, so nobody watched KoP.

Indeed Bored to death is great, I would also recommend The Middle (kinda reminds me of Malcolm in the middle) and Modern Family.

Life? What life? I have no life ..

Good morning.

"spartacus is gud"

In what way is it "good"?

NB: I assume that "gud" is a substitute for "good", as I can make no justifiable link twixt this forum and, e.g., Grand Unified Debugger, Genital Ulcer Disease, Wilms' Tumour (HGNC:12796), Global Union Of Democracies, or Göttinger ÜberwachungsDienst...

Cheers,

I don't think Spartacus is good. I still want to watch it for the story's sake, but I can't convince myself to start. All those special effects kind of turn me off.

Hi, bunny.

First - thank you for the rich crop of subs pouring in over the last two days!

Spartacus.
From what I've seen so far, Spartacus romps along with a minimal story line that exists merely to support - or justify - a plot motif of, "If it moves, screw it or kill it, or screw it then kill it, or kill it, then screw it... Then throw a few more buckets of blood and another naked body into the mix - in slow motion".

It's porn, both sex-porn and gore-porn - an episodic snuff-movie.
It has no value or merit as anything else but porn, and it's a pity that such high quality production resources and talent have been squandered on what will no doubt become very popular, especially among spotty prepubescents.

Rome worked because it just managed to avoid falling into the trap of appealing solely to the salacious; this was, at least in part, because the history of the Rome of that period is well documented - indeed, a familiarity with the history more enabled one to enjoy the series.

But the legend of Spartacus is so flimsy that this series can safely ditch any pretense of being history (other than a few dodgy archaisms of speech and costume intended to assist the target audience in convincing themselves that it's a worthwhile thing to watch).

On Starkerspuss - don't just take my word for it: it's got some fine production work (apart from some pretty ropey c.g.i.) and the acting tallent is mainly European, with many British actors.

The Chuck comment was a bit jokey, but...
I watched the first episode and thought it to be just silly nonsense. However, my son picked it up in the second season and said that he thought it was worthwhile, so I gave it another try. It's actually pretty good - it stays within the confines of its genre, and a lot of effort goes in to making it work.

Incidentally, Number One Son's website mght be of interest:
http://joeroberts.co.uk/Joe_Roberts/Home.html

He's feeling rather pleased that he comes up top of the page, every time, with a Google search.

I'm totally hooked on Torchwood. I think that the Captain Jack Harkness character (and his buddy, Capt. John) is a compelling and interesting character. His story just keeps unfolding in interesting ways.
You may need to be a Doctor Who fan to really get Torchwood (an anagram of "Doctor Who").
I'm looking forward to Season 4 and, if it gets off the ground, the American version.

Saving the earth from having to watch lower-case subs!

Maybe the only reason no one has mentioned House is because u expect every1 to be watching but i'm not taking any chances. So here goes, House. White collar, liked it but now i find myself pausing an episode in the middle and coming back to it a few days later. Not a good sign

Damages, Dexter, and whoever hasn't watched deadwood should definitely get the dvds. Definitely modern family for some lighter viewing
