Subtitles For Australian Shows

Unless a dvdrip with subs is available, we cannot provide subs for NZ shows (along with AU and some UK).

today i found out how to get subs for some australian shows that are airing on ABC. some older bbc shows too.
go to http://www.abc.net.au/iview/ , find show you want, and check in properties does any kind of captions exist. if it does,
Using a web debugger like Fiddler you can see the player loading the subtitle file when you click on one of the programmes (when it loads the box with more information such as "Captions: Available/Not Available" ). For example, right now on the front page is Midsomer Murders Series 5 Episode 1 (http://www.abc.net.a...w/#/view/566487). The corresponding subtitles can be found at http://www.abc.net.a...er_11_05_01.xml

The subtitles themselves take the format:

<title start="00:03:33:24" end="00:03:36:92">I'm Detective Chief Inspector|Barnaby.</title>

Number each line, remove the "<title...", turn the last semi colon into a comma and add a 0 to end of the times, add "-->" in between them, knock off the "</title>" and you have effectively have a normal srt file.

thanks to nl88. hope this helps :)

You are great, man !
I'm trying to imagine how someone will stay with your instruction in front of eyes, trying to download some subs.
"Hmm... what he said... open that...and then....and...." :D

You know very well that are not so many people who knows to make a sync.

But I guess, after your post that you will be "bombed" with request for subs.:D

Anyway, thanks for your help, I appreciate!

The easiest way to get the subtitles off iview is to use IviewNapper.

This will extract the program and the subtitle (.srt) at the same time.

Iview is only available to australians though.
