Well, it's been a while. 

Here's what's new:

 

1. We're now running the latest IPB version on a brand new server .
2. Calendar has been disabled (low interest)
3. Authentication is now by email only (used to be either email or display name), since display names are public information and malicious users may attempt to login to multiple accounts with common passwords until they find an account for which the passwords work
4. Users will be locked out after 3 failed logins, for 5 days (so do save your password somewhere safe)
5. We'll now send you an email when you login in from a new device which you previously didn`t use.
6. Google 2FA enabled (Profile->Security and privacy)
7. Recently Used Devices is also enabled, you can check it out on your account.

 

I strongly recommend enabling Google 2FA, even as a user. An extra security layer never hurt anyone. For staff, it will become mandatory soon-ish.

(You will have a code on your mobile device generated every 30 seconds. You will have to use the code when you login from a new device. If you wanna get started, grab the Microsoft Authenticator - since it supports backups - or Google Authenticator). 

 

Besides the obvious security related improvements, there are also a ton of speed improvements that should be noticeable. 

Downtimes that happened in the past months should also be a thing of the past.
