north3rner
The only synced SRT I could find was all uppercase. I've just found the Tools -> Change Casing ... and it works very nicely. I figured out I can add the names.xml from https://github.com/SubtitleEdit/subtitleedit/blob/master/Dictionaries/names.xml to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Subtitle Edit\Dictionaries and this is a list of names that should be capitalized that SubtitleEdit recognizes when applying the Tools -> Change Casing ... tool. And again this works very nicely. Except some names are missing. Obviously I can not expect every name to be included. I must add the missing names locally. Is there a way to make SubtitleEdit remember the names I enter manually in the Tools -> Change Casing ... dialogue? Ie it adds them to the existing names.xml file? Alternatively, must I manually edit the names.xml file in the C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Subtitle Edit\Dictionaries directory for every new word I want to add? ~ I noticed in the same place there is also a de_names.xml and a en_names.xml. Are these just German and English name lists?
north3rner
Opening the menu "Spell check" I saw the option "Get dictionaries..." so I selected/downloaded "English" dictionaries. Inside the English .aff and .dic files I found person names I had already added manually to the "names.xml" file (so I probably didn't have to manually add them to "names.xml"). ~ I discovered the menu Options -> Settings... -> Word lists. There's an option to "Use online names xml file" followed by the https://raw.githubusercontent.com/SubtitleEdit/subtitleedit/master/Dictionaries/names.xml address I had already manually copied. I expect this gives an option to use either the online or a local "names.xml" file. But more interesting, the settings option includes three word / name lists. The "OCR fix list" I don't expect to need. The other two "User word list" and "Names/ignore list (case sensitive)" is there documentation of them somewhere? Searching for either in https://www.nikse.dk/SubtitleEdit/Help doesn't yield hits.
