I've actually managed to do a machine translation myself and all files work well with the timing and everything, except for episode 5, it's a bit off since this ep's video file did not contain subtitles at all so I had to generate automatic subs which later translated so it doesn't look as good as others but overall it's alright, the language is accurate and on time. They need to be good at spell, punctuate and use grammar accurately, translate the dialogue into the required language sensitively and understand “slang”, be adept in using the subtitling software etc. Making a subtitle from scratch is more time consuming as you have to “spot” the time codes. This will add least a couple of hours based on a 45 minutes show as it often require fine-tuning afterwards.
